Dunhuang Repository
The Dunhuang Repository is an online database project started in 2016 with the goal of digitizing and preserving a handwritten database kept at the library of East Asian Civilisations Research Centre (CRCAO). This database contains previously unpublished material produced by members of the Research Team on Dunhuang Manuscripts (EPHE–CNRS ERA 438), which was later integrated into the CRCAO, formed in 1973 for the scientific cataloguing and study of the Dunhuang documents brought to France by Professor Paul Pelliot (1878–1945) at the beginning of the 20th century and kept at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF). In particular, this database contains a significant number of entries concerning Buddhist official titles, religious names, and patronymics found in the Dunhuang documents as the manuscripts of the French collection were being catalogued. The Dunhuang Repository digital database was funded from PSL Research University. The database, now available online, provides photographic reproduction of the original handwritten records with a search tool allowing users to search by entry title.
